How the texts “work”: We begin each chapter or section by studying the text from the point of view of various translations (see TRANSLATIONS and COMPARISON CHARTS), because how a verse is translated often is a commentary in itself. Next, we review the text through the eyes of various commentaries. Finally, we study lengthier “commentaries,” in the form of essays
Obviously, it takes us a long time to get through a chapter or section (the first eight chapters took more than a year of almost weekly classes to get through), but we are in no rush.
